By 2017, the preparation of 8 March had been encouraged by the tremendous mobilization of women in Poland and the United States. Calls for strikes were recorded in 70 countries. This year, calls for strikes will be made, in particular in France, Italy and Spain.

These calls are a sign of the constant strengthening of the links between feminist movements and trade union organizations and the massive and determined presence of feminists in trade unions. The themes will be linked to the fight against violence but also to the defense of women workers in a context of a strong deterioration of rights reinforced by the implementation of labour laws.

Struggles are also encouraging because they are victorious and particularly protracted in sectors where women, often of foreign origin and particularly exploited, work massively: this is the case for workers in care institutions for the elderly in the Spanish Basque Country, housekeepers at the Gare du Nord in Paris, staff at the Levallois Holiday Inn... There is no doubt that these struggles will impress a particular breath of fresh air on 8 March.
