Movements, networks and European organizations members of the Alter Summit have drafted together a common platform, a “manifesto of the peoples”, including shared analysis, proposals and an agenda.

This manifesto has been presented in Athens on 7th June 2013, in order to say out and loud that the destructive austerity policies are no fatality. Alternative policies exist and should be taken to build the democratic, social, ecological and feminist Europe we all expect !

A people’s manifesto
Our urgent common priorities for a democratic, social, ecological and feminist Europe

Roll back austerity…Claim real democracy !

17 July 2014 Richard Greeman Why do the labor union federations and socialist parties in the various countries of a united EU persist in resisting austerity locally, faced with a united capitalist Europe? I have long been convinced that if the peoples and labor movements of the EU don't unite in common actions, leading to Europe-wide risings, the Troika will continue to use 'salami tactics' to enslave first Greece, then Portugal and so on in the name of austerity. All of the gains of a century of labor and social struggle will be wiped out. The capitalists know how to UNITE against labor. When will labor UNITE across what are now meaningly economic boarders? Only when the rank and file push the leaders, who live off government subsidies, out of the way and reach out their hands in solidarity first with Greek workers, still on the front line, and then everywhere.
