The next European elections will be held in May 2019. We believe that the time between now and this deadline should be used to bring social issues into the public debate and to question the direction taken by this European Union. Far from electoralism, we want to work together with other social forces to send a strong unified message to the people of Europe.

Here is the second edition of the Alter Summit newsletter. We remind you that it is a tool for exchanging information between our respective realities. We would therefore be happy to publish articles illustrating your daily struggles as well as share your analyses and perspectives. Don’t hesitate to contact us!

Before you start reading, we wanted to remind you of our next activity in October 2018 (25&26 in Brussels). We organize with different partners a European meeting of deliverers of new digital platforms (Deliveroo, Foodora, Glovo, etc...). We would like to see the participation of different actors (deliverers, trade unionists, researchers) to address the many aspects of the issue (status, income, demands, etc.). Any support on the organization or contact with deliverers is welcome.

We discussed these elements on May 25&26 at the Alter Summit meeting. We have made proposals to defend public services in Europe against privatisation (health - action day on 7 April 2019, transport, water) and have made a commitment to support future feminist struggles and strikes (25 November, 8 March 2019). We will work on these proposals in the coming months and will report on the main conclusions in this newsletter.
